I suppose that you are all wondering about the travelling Woodleys' New South Wales adventures... and I suppose that I'd better share them with you, world wide web, as we are already three and a half weeks into Queensland!
We left our lovely time with Grandma and headed into the first state of New South Wales via the little fishing village of Mallacoota. Our first week in New South Wales was spent in the coastal town of Eden - we had visited once before, three years ago, but this time stayed in a caravan park right on the lake and two minutes walk to the beautiful (and slightly wild looking) main beach.
Our first port of call (as always whenever possible)
was the beach for some fun in sand and sea...
...and for a special excursion the travelling Woodleys headed to the Oaklands Barn and Garden Centre for coffees, scones, animals to pet, gifts to peruse, and so on and so forth...
...where there was definitely no lack of authentic old farm
vehicles to admire...
vehicles to admire...
...another day and off to our favourite oft visited spot
of the Pambula river mouth...
(no, this is not Nick - but he did get two surfs at Eden main beach)
...including a lovely extended walk along the river, admiring the natural surroundings of Ben Boyd National Park; as well as cute and picturesque little fishing shacks...
...our first (exciting) mass sighting of kangaroos...
...Trinity and Daddy had a special day and night out
including a visit to a family fun park...
...the kids kept on finding their own fun in various kinds of ways...
(practising his still new-ish skill of walking)
...a family ride beside the sea and on the lakeside boardwalk
yielded more fun memories...
...and I could never get enough of the scenic situation we had once again found ourselves in...
...a perfect spot for budding readers who just happen to be travelling around the country...
...finally on our last morning we were blessed to experience an amazing mist rising from the lake and sea...
...so on, again, to Broulee; and some new Christian Surfer friends Mr and Mrs MacCallum and their delightful teens; as well as old Christian Surfer friends Mr and Mrs Lawrence...
...surfs were to be had by both Nick and Renee...
...and it is enlightening to see how much fun four children can have with just a large box of Duplo, endless Little Golden books and Enid Blyton, and paper and pen in the course of a week
(oh, and lets not forget the legendary game of 'Guess Who?')...
...the travelling Woodleys had the privilege of aboriginal art instruction with a good friend of Mr MacCallum's, Colin...
...with some didgeridoo and life stories thrown in for good measure...
...a morning out at nearby quirky tourist town Mogo
didn't fail to satisfy...
...and some people are crazy enough to (almost) take a dip in unheated backyard pools on the coldest week so far this year
for the NSW South Coast...
...meanwhile, plenty of stories never go astray...
...and then to Sussex Inlet after farewelling this backyard view and our new friends - only two and a half months ago!...
GREAT to see something of your NSW sojourn. The photos convey a thousand words. Good to see how the children are thriving. Hope Qld is treating you well.

ReplyDelete(PS: I tried to add but blogger wasn't happy with me saying so that Woonona becah is just that. No fancy name unless you went on the northside of the pool and then its "northside" he he)
Hello friends,
ReplyDeleteQueensland is treating us just fine thanks, Leslie - finally getting some heat! Woohoo says I, although Nick may beg to differ...
Naomi, you guys were plenty entertaining and we enjoyed staying with you... can't believe that it was two months ago - sometimes feels way longer than that, and it sometimes feels as though the time has gone so quickly.
Blessings, Renee.
Looking forward to eventually seeing your Qld sojourn... but the most important thing is that you are truly having a sabbatical ... not the blogging interesting and informative though it is.
